Bio

Michelle Covert earned her bachelor and master's degree in social work from San Jose State University. She served her community of San Jose and Santa Clara County for over 21 years working with homeless youth and foster youth.   Her passion for her work propelled her through the ranks of outreach worker, case manager, supervisor and ultimately program director for 2 local non-profit organizations.  In 2014, she shifted to working in local government with the City of San Jose’s Homeless Response Team that piloted successful continuous operation of overnight warming locations and faith-based shelters.  In 2016, she began working for the County of Santa Clara’s Office of Supportive Housing (OSH) where she oversees the Crisis Response Team (CRT), housing problem solving, shelter management and other contracts that deliver services to meet basic needs of person experiencing homelessness. In her spare time, she dotes on her adorable dog Lily and supports the Giants!
